The Restoration and Rehabilitation of the Former Knights of Pythias Hall,
Jewel Lodge, No. 103 for the Purpose of Establishing the Chisholm Trail
Heritage Museum
Phase One:
This phase consisted of restoration of the original wood windows.
Where feasible, components of the frame and sash were prepared for
paint and received a primer and two topcoats. Components that had
deteriorated beyond feasible preservation were replaced with units
to match the original existing ones in size and profile. The existing
glazing putty was removed in its entirety and replaced. The sealant
between the wood frame and the masonry was removed and replaced.
Broken or missing panes of glass were replaced. Some of the remaining
wood sills received an epoxy filler treatment before they were painted
to aid in the continued preservation. There were 27 original wood windows
involved in this phase.
