The Board of Chisholm Trail Heritage
Museum is committed to collecting and preserving artifacts and memorabilia
relating to Texas' rich ranching and agricultural past. Focusing on the 50-year
period beginning with Crockett Cardwell's now legendary cattle drive
in 1866, our goal is to locate artifacts for the museum's collection that,
while available, are quickly disappearing.
Current commitments to the Museum include Texana furniture, 19th century
store ledgers, early Texas maps, photographs, saddles, spurs, chaps, wagons,
and other priceless cowboy memorabilia. The new facility will provide
storage space for the proper conservation of ranching and cowboy artifacts
which will recreate the lives of late 19th century life in South Central Texas.
Museums serve a much-needed purpose, providing a safe haven for objects which
might otherwise disappear from public accessibility and purview. The
Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum will preserve these items for
future generations to enjoy.
